Russ was born in Los Angeles County, California and grew up in the South Bay Cities area. He has been a resident of Orange County since 1990.

For the first many years of practice, Russ practiced exclusively civil litigation, handling wrongful death, medical malpractice, personal injury, product defect, insurance bad faith, and premises liability matters. In 2012, he expanded his practice to include family law. He is a Certified Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization, a distinction that reflects his exceptional knowledge, skill, and dedication in this demanding field. Russ is particularly well-versed in complex family law litigation involving both high-conflict custody disputes and intricate financial issues, and he is widely respected for his ability to navigate these sensitive matters with strategic insight and tenacity.

Russ attended the National Family Law Trial Institute’s Kolodny Trial Skills Course in Houston, Texas, focusing on family law trial techniques. He is also a trained mediator through the Family Resolution Institute and believes in the value of collaborative resolution when appropriate. Russ is a skilled negotiator with a strong record of achieving favorable settlements, while also being fully prepared to litigate when necessary. With over 30 years of litigation experience, Russ combines seasoned trial skill, practical wisdom, and heartfelt advocacy in service of his clients.

Personal Note

Russ and his wife Krysti have seven children, five “grand-littles”, a feisty Frenchie, and a sweet Maine Coon. He served extensively with the Boy Scouts of America and the Orange County Council’s advancement committee, helping youth achieve their rank of Eagle Scout – four of his sons included. In his free time, Russ enjoys the outdoors, whether riding bikes along the beach, snowboarding in the mountains, or boating on the lake with family. He is also a Porsche and street bike enthusiast who enjoys track days and hitting the open road.
