
Shanshan (“Sophy”) Han is an Associate Attorney at Quinn & Dworakowski where she focuses her practice on estate planning, trust administration, probate, asset protection, and tax strategy.
Sophy works closely with individuals and families to design customized estate plans that protect assets, minimize tax exposure, and ensure that clients’ wishes are carried out clearly and efficiently. She provides comprehensive estate planning services to a diverse clientele, including high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners, and regularly prepares a wide range of estate planning instruments, including revocable and irrevocable trusts.
Her practice includes advising clients on sophisticated estate, gift, and tax planning strategies, such as charitable giving, lifetime gifting, irrevocable trust planning, and entity structuring, all aimed at preserving wealth and facilitating efficient intergenerational transfers.
Sophy is a California Notary Public and an Enrolled Agent authorized to practice before the Internal Revenue Service, enabling her to seamlessly integrate federal tax considerations into estate planning and administration. She also advises trustees and beneficiaries in trust administration matters, including trust divisions and the preparation and filing of Deceased Spousal Unused Exclusion (DSUE) elections, helping clients maximize available estate tax exemptions.
Sophy regularly works with immigrant families and internationally connected clients, providing estate planning guidance that is both culturally informed and practical. Sophy is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Korean.
Sophy earned her Bachelor of Laws degree from Jilin University, one of China’s top-tier law schools, and passed the Chinese Bar Examination in 2011. She holds a Master of Laws degree from Korea University, where she served as a Teaching and Research Assistant, and an LL.M. from the University of Southern California, where she served as a Graduate Assistant and International Student Ambassador.
